mission:BRAIN Lecture Series - Establishing Neurosurgical Need In Sierra Leone by Dr. Megan Still

Dr. Megan Still, MD, a Mission:Brain scholar, hosted a Mission:BRAIN Lecture Series highlighting her impactful work to establish neurosurgical need in Sierra Leone.

Drawing from recent studies and firsthand assessments, Dr. Still shared how she’s helping define the country’s neurosurgical needs—addressing major barriers such as the lack of trained professionals, advanced imaging, and critical infrastructure. Her efforts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, aim to build the first public neurosurgery department in Sierra Leone.

The lecture also spotlighted ongoing training programs, research initiatives, and the long-term vision for sustainable neurosurgical development in the region.
