Our mission is to provide patients in need with access to advanced neurosurgical procedures and to share our knowledge with providers regarding the advancements in neurosurgical technique and care.
Our ultimate vision is to create a network that links surgeons and caregivers to hospitals and patients without the money, equipment, or training to treat complex neurosurgical diseases.
What is a mission:brain chapter?
A. mission:brain chapters are university/medical student led extensions of the mission:brain foundation. Chapters will be responsible for local outreach, fundraising, recruitment, innovation, and more. Complete roles and responsibilities of the chapters can be found in section Membership and Responsibilities.
Benefits
1. Members get to volunteer for a non-profit foundation.
2. Members get opportunities to team up with world class physicians and make meaningful
change on a global scale.
3. Members will learn about different healthcare systems in other parts of the world.
4. Opportunities to network with other undergraduates, medical students, and physicians.
5. Partnership projects with world recognized neurosurgeons and institutions.
6. Observership opportunities.
7. Opportunities to attend mission:brain outreach trips.

Membership & Responsibilities
Chapter creation
mission:brain student chapters may be formed by initially requesting a chapter charter. For more information on how to apply please see the mission:brain charter application document.
Chapter membership
Chapters will not be not be limited in number. All students with interest in mission:brain are invited to apply to join our community. It will be the
responsibility of the chapter leadership to document annual membership. Chapter charters may be granted or revoked at the discretion of mission:brain HQ.
Social media
Chapters will be responsible for creating and maintaining social media accounts (Instagram/Facebook) showcasing updates on chapter activities.
Fundraising
Each mission:brain chapter will be required to hold at least 1 fundraiser annually. The nature of the event is up to the discretion of the individual chapter and its leadership. However, the event will need to be approved by mission:brain HQ before execution.
Chapter meetings
Chapters will be required to meet monthly to conduct chapter business, brainstorm ideas, plan events, etc. The chapter will also be required to attend
bi-annual virtual meetings with the mission:brain board and other global chapters.
Annual chapter report
Chapters will be required to submit a brief yearly report summarizing current or completed projects, funds raised, new membership, as well as suggestions for improving mission:brain and the chapter program.
Promotion
mission:brain chapters will be responsible for promoting events via social media, emails, and other means.
Officers and Organization
Organization leadership will serve in one year terms. Positions are as follows:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Officer elections should be held annually at the start of the academic year. Special elections may be held at any time for vacancies that occur. In the event of student graduation or voluntary resignation, succession will occur; Vice President to President, Treasurer to Vice President, appointment to Treasurer. Leadership changes must be reported to mission:brain HQ to be approved.
Officer Duties
President
The chapter President will be responsible for convening each meeting. He/She, will be responsible for overseeing all chapter activities and ensure
chapter compliance with membership criteria. The chapter President will also be responsible for the recruitment of new members.
Vice President
The chapter Vice-President will be responsible for recording meeting minutes, updating the chapter on mission:brain news, and coordinating
events with mission:brain HQ.
Treasurer
The chapter treasurer will be responsible for all financial information related to the chapter.
Professional Conduct
All members of mission:brain student chapters will be held to the high standards expected of a young professional. All actions, including word, deed, and social media should be carefully considered to insure that the individual and organization are perceived with the respect they are
due. All use of mission:brain name and logo must be pre-approved by HQ.
